sleep study
Depending on the severity of your snoring and other symptoms, your doctor may want to perform a sleep study. Sleep studies can sometimes be done at home.
However, depending on your other medical problems and the other symptoms you experience when you sleep, you may need to spend the night at a sleep center for a comprehensive analysis of your breathing during sleep, which is performed through a study. called “polysomnography.”
In a polysomnography, you are connected to many sensors and they watch you throughout the night. During the sleep study the following information is recorded:
- Brain waves
- Blood oxygen level
- Heart rate
- Breathing rate
- Sleep stages
- Eye and leg movement
